I usually just stick to the trusted vendor list but my friend is telling me he's gotten id's from this guy before. Anyone know anything else besides what my friend is telling me?

Just convince him to buy from here. Much better and you have a good idea of the quality you are going to get.
personally, I'd take the charge for IDs. you'd be buying from here, unlike your friend & you could always up charge a few bucks to make money while doing so.
